The police and law enforcement agencies occasionally post images of wanted or unidentified persons on the internet. We do not broadcast or publish such images or videos, because images shown by the SBC have a much greater denunciatory effect than if the police publish them on their own website.

Exceptions may be made in cases where suspected violent offenders who pose a threat to the public are being sought.

Assistance is also useful in cases of kidnapping, which may be solved with our support. The SBC is a partner organisation of the Federal Office of Police fedpol’s kidnapping alert system. In the event of a kidnapping, we are obliged to assist the authorities in their search. The procedure, responsibilities and formal and content-related details are regulated in special guidelines.

If police appeal images or videos are to be made public or if the authorities trigger the kidnapping alert, the senior editorial management must be informed.
