We treat religious content essentially the same way as others. When reporting on religion, we distinguish between beliefs and institutional aspects. Core beliefs enjoy special protection, but religious institutions and their representatives are subject to the same scrutiny as other social actors. This means that we treat religions and churches as critically as all other schools of thought and institutions. However, we are aware that the tone of reporting in particular may offend the religious segment of the audience. We therefore do not ridicule the core beliefs of religions. Satire is permitted, however.

When dealing with controversial religious issues, we avoid any form of discrimination and preserve the dignity of all those involved, including in our use of visuals and choice of wording.
